A new and exciting opportunity is beginning right now

Despite its tag as a "New Town", Redditch has a history stretching back to Roman times. Part of that history revolves around Needles and the Fishing tackle industries whose story is told at our excellent Forge Mill Museum.  This opportunity, to create and run a Redditch Local History Museum, is about telling the story of all other aspects of Redditch's history and heritage.

A consortium of local groups is working together to open a town Centre based Heritage Centre that will do just that. Each group in the consortium is focussing on a particular area.

The Redditch branch of the Royal Enfield Owners Club's focus is Redditch's connection with the British motorcycle industries.

The Friend of John Bonham whose area of interest is one of Redditch's most famous sons, rock drummer John Bonham.

The Redditch Local History Society is currently currently focusing on the remainder of the town's history but as other specialist groups join us we hope that they will share that load with their specialist knowledge.

This is the web site of The Redditch Local History Museum CIO* which has been constituted to undertake the task of establishing and operating the Museum.
Our mission statement is....

"To establish and operate a museum facility which collects, stores and presents artefacts which record and illustrate the history of Redditch and the surrounding area to as wide an audience as possible"
